8thInternational Office Professionals Summit – 5-9 July 2011

The Association of Administrative Professionals New Zealand Inc, was delighted to host the recent 8th International Office Professionals Summit at the Crowne Plaza Auckland, New Zealand from 5-9 July 2011.

The theme of the Summit was “Global ConnectivenessKOTAHITANGA... There’s nothing that can’t be done if we raise our voice as one”.   With 115 attendees including 35 from Papua New Guinea,  we had quite a mix of international and national people attending and we are delighted to say that the whole Summit was an amazing and very successful event, with everyone working together to achieve positive outcomes for administrative professionals around the world.

Delegates and participants had the rare opportunity to meet with office/administrative professionals from all over the world to discuss matters of common interest and concern. The International Summit was not a conference - but a business meeting where attendees were required to discuss items on the Agenda and agree on a plan of action. The World Strategic Plan – Administra was reviewed with the updated version being available on this website shortly.

Attendees enhanced their professional development through the following speakers/facilitators and topics:

  • Keynote Speaker Kim Chamberlain –  “Your Journey”  from the UK
  • New Zealand Acclaimed Speaker and Facilitator Hannah Samuel – “Office Ethics” together with AAPNZ’s own Vicki Faint presenting from the work place model
  • “Cloud Computing & Office 365”  – Rachel Turney, Microsoft
  • “Enabling Connected Business” – Ben Huckins, MYOB NZ Ltd
  • Paul Bolte from Bartercard New Zealand enthralled his audience with his presentation on “Passion for Success”
  • Technology Workshop led by Richard Cheeseman of Mobile Strategy and including presentations from Jeremy Lane from Konica Minolta NZ Ltd, Grant Emanuel of Avery Office Products who flew over from Australia especially, as well as Richard himself and his special guest Andy Maclean
  • Gay Barton of Drake International presenting on “Growing your own Potential”
  • Eth Lloyd, AAPNZ’s newest Life Member co-presenting with another AAPNZ member Wendy Rapana on “Group Processes and Leadership Styles”
  • Victoria Tyusha from South Africa who presented a paper “The changing role of the office administrator”
  • Tricia Caughley, another senior AAPNZ member presented on “Taking Minutes” as well as launching her very first book. On the same subject.

There was a Skype webcast session for delegates with a fellow delegate in the UK and most of the business sessions over the four days along with the social functions were recorded.  Many can be viewed currently through this link  www.maxcast.com/info106 but are now also available in a 3-DVD pack for NZ$40.00 per set inclusive of postage and packaging (extra $5 for credit card payments). Please check out the form  attached for details.
