Differences between logos/images TIF
Many times, someone sends you a document, which is huge in size because it may have a logo or pictures embedded in it that does take up space. To cut down on size of the document, a shortcut could be to PDF it but that does not teach you any more than what you know. I have put some notes together that you may find useful.

The main differences between the Logo/images:
TIF supports a wide range of pixel formats so they're useful for precise colour matching. You could enlarge as it won’t change its original frame. Any use exclude web.
A TIF file is in most fax files. Often you can view these files in the Windows Picture and fax viewer in Windows XP. You can also import the file into Word or other files as an image and view it there. If you cannot delete TIF files in Windows XP, even if not in use, you may have a defective version of the Microsoft RAW viewer. Modify the viewer options or uninstall it per the Microsoft page instructions. A 'TIF file is tif image or picture - you can open it with many free image programs like Picasa or with the 'paint' program included with Windows (in 'Accessories').
